A Masquerader’s Rendition – Trinidad Carnival 2017
Posted on March 15, 2017
I think it is safe to say we paid more attention to the bumpers than our cameras. We’re still not sure if this is a good thing or not.
I guess you be the judge:
Carnival 2017 survived amidst an Island divided between those for and against the festivities. Rightfully so, as Carnival is central to our economic growth and diversification. (A song I sing daily on my facebook.) A collection of colors, creeds, races and nationalities converged upon the streets of Trinidad and Tobago for the greatest two day festival you could ever find.
Carnival is woman
Carnival is Colors
Carnival is People
Carnival is a celebration of Soca Music
This comes with a complementary set of dance moves. Called ‘wining’ (A dance with rhythmic gyratory movements of the pelvic region.).
Soca music, the happy music, prodigy son of calypso, serves as the permanent backdrop to the festivities. What makes Trinidad Carnival unique is that, this is not just something pretty to look at. This festival is something pretty to PARTICIPATE in.
Trinidad and Tobago Carnival is STILL, the Greatest Show on Earth.
